A REGION RIPE For Investment

Hilltops Council is in the Canberra Region Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. The region is located just over an hour north of Canberra, and features the thriving towns of Young, Harden-Murrumburrah and Boorowa, along with a wide range of villages that are bursting with a rich history.

The region is a renowned for its agriculture, including sheep grazing, cropping, intensive agriculture and horticultural activities including vines and cherries. Situated in a strategic transport corridor, including the Hume Highway, which is the busiest interstate, road freight corridor in Australia, and is closely connected to major markets including Sydney and Canberra, which drive major economic opportunities. In addition, International flights are now available from Canberra Airport including passenger and cargo services whilst Harden-Murrumburrah is located on the main Sydney to Melbourne rail line. A range of industries make a positive contribution to the Hilltops economy, which hold potential for leverage and expansion or value adding. Amongst the most prominent industries are: agriculture, forestry and fishing which contributed $157 million to the local economy in 2014-15; financial and insurance services; manufacturing; healthcare and social assistance and retail. In 2017 4,500 businesses were registered in the Hilltops with a workforce of more than 8,000 people. The strategic vision of the Council is that “Hilltops is a connected region, with both the local society and economy driven by a culture of innovation and collaboration.”

Affordable real estate options make the Hilltops Region an enticing destination with residential blocks starting from $30,000 and established homes starting from around $120,000. Small acreages can be found within a short drive of the urban centres within the Hilltops and they offer a wonderful lifestyle choice if you are looking for a little elbow room. Rural properties in the Hilltops are regarded by many as offering some of the best agricultural land in NSW and command upwards of $2,000 per acre for those wanting to go farming.
