Over 1000 school students and others from the community will decorate lanterns in workshops at Young, Monteagle and Boorowa over the next two weeks in the lead up to the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival. The workshops will be conducted by Giselle Newbury from Southern Tablelands Arts and participants will be invited to bring their lantern and take part in Young’s first Sunset Lantern Parade on Saturday March 24.
Truck and Tractor Show
Harden’s Annual Truck & Tractor Show on Sunday March 18 will feature all manner of classic trucks, tractors, working trucks, buses, fire engines, military vehicles, stationary engines and classic cars. This year there’s a special focus on Bedford trucks and International tractors. A big drawcard for spectators and participants alike.
Major works in varying mediums will be featured in the 10th Annual Lambing Flat Sculpture Wood and Big Art Exhibition to be held at Young Town Hall in conjunction with the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival. This year’s official exhibition opening will be on the night of Wednesday March 21 and works can be viewed afterwards over the following four days.
Boorowa Rotary Club will hold their Annual International Night on March 17 with Tanzania the focus this year. Those interested should contact Sina on 6385 3594 to secure their place.
Local entertainer and Tamworth Star Maker winner Luke Dickens will perform at The Young Harness Racing Club’s 2108 Carnival of Cups meeting at the Young Paceway this Saturday night. The meeting features a nine-race program and some of the best pacers in country NSW. There’s a gold coin donation and $500 lucky gate prize too.
Harden historian and author Robyn Atherton will discuss the life of Chinese people living in the Murrumburrah area when she speaks at the Young Library on March 24 as part of the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival. Robyn is author of “They were more than just gold diggers- the Chinese of Murrumburrah and surrounding districts 1860-1960’s”.
