Charlie Arnott became a farmer by default, when his family needed him to return home and help out on the family farm ‘Hanaminno’ in 1997, since then he has transformed the family property and is helping change the way Australian’s think about farming.
15 years ago Charlie took part in a course called Grazing for Profit that turned his approach to the land around. Charlie now makes his land and resources work for him through the practice of regenerative farming using bio-dynamics & he’s spreading the word to others. With the use of social media, by interviewing and streaming interviews with other farmers, speaking at conferences and holding workshops on his farm Charlie is educating farmers on how they can become more sustainable, help the land and save money.
Charlie says ‘the day i stopped thinking about growing and producing a commodity and instead started thinking about the fact that I was producing food changed my decision making and approach to farming”
Charlie’s vision is simple, work with the land, make it thrive and make chemical free the norm.
Charlie is an Australian National Landcare ambassador and in October 2018 was awarded the Bob Hawke Award by Landcare acknowledging Charlie’s remarkable commitment to caring for the land, while championing better practices and sharing that knowledge with others.
