Pastor’s Pleasures

Pastor’s Pleasures is the brainchild of Kerrie Provan.
Living in Murrumburrah NSW with limited job opportunities for a 50 plus year old woman, in 2010 she decided to create her own.
But the groundwork was laid earlier than that.
Kerrie & her husband Rob owned a vineyard near Young NSW and it was in their cellar door that it all began, with Regional tasting platters featuring Kerrie’s local produce served to accompany wine tastings.
Kerrie and Rob’s interest and belief in the quality of the local produce led them to cook for many interesting people including Margaret Fulton, Lyndey Millan, food journalist and author John Newton, among others.
They worked with Margaret Fulton to showcase a local poultry producer’s products to the food elite of Sydney, resulting in this product being taken on by a large retail outlet, and some of the top restaurants in Sydney.
After selling the vineyard they took on the Terracotta Restaurant in Murrumburrah winning an award for Best Family Restaurant through Restaurant and Catering NSW. After three years in the restaurant business, Rob wanted to slow down so they tried semi-retirement. That didn’t work out. Boredom and the need to earn a living took over, Rob went back to work and they settled in Murrumburrah buying an old rectory. It was then Kerrie decided to start her own small business, focused on the local produce with a name derived from their home in the old rectory ‘Pastor’s Pleasures’.
Kerrie began making preserves; jams, pickles and chutneys and selling them at markets. As the popularity of her preserves grew Kerrie decided she would set herself up seriously. Since that time she has entered some her produce into the Sydney Fine Food Show where she has taken out four silver and three bronze medals.
You can find her at the Young Regional Farmer’s Market on the first Saturday of the month and the Murrumbateman Community Market.
You can also find her on Facebook and Instagram The Pastor’s Pleasures
