WOMBAT & KINGSVALE

Wombat and Kingsvale lie in the heart of Hilltops' stone-fruit industry. With several large orchards, the hardest decision is choosing which orchard to stop at and whether you will pick your own or buy a box to take home. The cheery Wombat pub hosts Bush Poets, local bands, and offers hearty meals. The Wombat Cellars, next door, specialises in traditional liqueurs made from local walnuts, cherries and citrus.

The village of Wombat is located on the A41 Olympic Highway between Young & Cootamundra. Wombat is renowned for its abundant fruit production, its tight-knit and friendly community and a plethora of events which bring locals and the visitors together. The Wombat Hotel - the oldest continually licensed pub in NSW - is a welcoming spot for a counter meal and a cool drink. The annual Australia Day Tractor Pull, Biker’s Rally and Swap Meet bring bustling crowds, a variety of entertainment, and guaranteed family-fun.

Cherry and fruit harvest time attracts many visitors to Wombat. There's something about picking your own fruit to take home and the experience draws people from far and wide. Many orchards in the Wombat area offer the opportunity to Pick Your Own fruit. The Grog Shed at Wombat Cellars offers local Hilltops Wines, Liquors and other treats made from local fruit.
